What is the program like?
The program is residential, which means you will be staying in the PSU residence halls from Thursday through Monday night, and attending sessions or work meetings every day. We have between two and five sessions or activities per day, and we also take a trip to Salem to tour the Capitol and meet with elected officials. At minimum, you should be prepared for a very rewarding, but very highly programmed six days! We typically plan an outing and/or movie night during the middle of the program, and you will have all your meals with your NEW Leadership cohort and the staff and faculty in residence. You are encouraged to download the previous program schedules to get a more in-depth look at the program activities.
How much does the program cost?
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, NEW Leadership Oregon only costs participants a program fee of $250, and we do have a significant scholarship program, as we are committed to making the experience accessible for all. The actual cost for development, food, housing, and program materials for the six-day program is closer to $2,500.
We rely on the generous support of individuals, corporations, organizations, and foundations that are passionate about women’s leadership to make this possible. Find out how you can be a supporter of NEW Oregon here.
Am I eligible?
Any woman enrolled in an Oregon college during the current academic school year is eligible to apply. You do not need to be a political science major, or be involved in formal political roles such as your student governing association to be considered. We encourage students with all kinds of interests and backgrounds to apply.
I still have more questions!
